interdisciplinarity, or the wish to entertain the world with more than one spoon…

nonine recordings head master me raabenstein has a painters background, optionally a good entry to his various exercises in questioning musical genre limitations. in his paintings raabenstein is utilizing related procedures, connecting the media while questioning both production and content.

earlier this year raabenstein produced a twelve minute video on his latest circle, the ‘map series’, to deliver insight in technical and conceptual aspects of these paintings. nine tracks were composed for this documentation, three were included there. all nine tracks are now presented on ‘map’, the three chosen ones as well as the outtakes. the release therefore has no typical album character, nevertheless ‘map’ displays raabenstein aka slowcream in his finest and gloomiest moments …  a perpetual admixture of dark ambient, drone, field recordings and neo classical fragments. watch the filmlet on vimeo and discover the dynamic interaction of image and score. you think painting is a comfortable ride on the country side?

völlig krasse reise in den inneren abgrund. schönes sägen an der unteren hirnhälfte, dazu trauriger walzer im abendgewand… nervenstränge liegen da wie zerfetzte rohre im abrissbau. kaputte erinnerungsfetzen zwischen neoklassischer grandezza und postindustrieller störfrequenz. sehr dichtes material, vielschichtig und mit vielen wendungen.
